Salary/Pay Scale: $45,729 (+ $2,200 Master's) Per the CSUFSD TAC Contract
Position Summary/Purpose:
In the Cheektowaga-Sloan UFSD, the faculty and staff are dedicated to creating a positive student-centered learning environment that recognizes all students' unique needs and talents by combining character education with a curriculum based on critical thinking. The emphasis is on teaching the whole child to create lifelong learners who are best prepared for college, careers, and beyond.
RESPONSIBILITIES & SKILLS:
- Be responsible for teaching Regents Earth Science and the accompanying lab requirements
- Observe and evaluate students' performance in meeting expectations of the NYS P-12 Science Learning Standards
- Utilize explicit instruction techniques, including clear learning targets, modeling, guided practice, and frequent checks for understanding
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, linguistic, social, and emotional needs of all learners, including students with disabilities and English Language Learners
- Provide lessons that increase student engagement, specifically, increasing student voice and discussion in the classroom
- Establish and maintain a classroom culture grounded in restorative practices, emphasizing strong relationships, student voice, accountability, and community
- Provide a nurturing, supportive, and positive learning environment with high expectations that encourage student responsibility and leadership
- Use a variety of formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress, inform instruction, and provide timely, actionable feedback
- Participate in ongoing professional development and stay abreast of current topics in education
- Work collaboratively with administrators, department chairs, and colleagues to create a positive work environment that promotes student achievement
- Serve as an active member of our professional learning community in and outside of the district

- Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations, student observations, and diagnostic assessments for children across grades K-12 exhibiting a wide range of abilities and learning styles
- Write clear, compliant, and comprehensive psychological reports that translate complex psychometric data into actionable classroom recommendations
- Facilitate CSE, CPSE, and 504 meetings, guiding multi-disciplinary teams through eligibility determinations, accommodations, and program placements
- Design and execute Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) to identify the root causes of challenging classroom behaviors
- Formulate and monitor evidence-based Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) to support student emotional regulation and maximize instructional time
- Actively participate in Child Study and Intervention Team meetings, bringing collaborative problem-solving insight to pre-referral cases
- Collect and interpret student and classroom data to accurately assess educational progress and evaluate environmental impacts on learning
- Implement Response to Intervention (RTI) protocols, leveraging robust data collection methods to guide multi-tiered academic and behavioral interventions
- Maintain meticulous records of students' special education reports, progress monitoring metrics, and services provided
- Training in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) is preferred
- Maintain a safe, supportive learning environment

Requirements:
- NYSED Certification as School Psychologist

- Design, plan, and deliver high-quality, differentiated instruction aligned with state English Language Development standards to meet the diverse linguistic and academic needs of English Language Learners (ELLs)
- Utilize research-based, co-teaching strategies (e.g., integrated and standalone ENL models) in collaboration with content-area teachers to ensure equitable curriculum access
- Deep knowledge of second language acquisition theories, literacy development, and specialized instructional methodologies for multilingual learners
- Implement continuous formative and summative assessments to monitor language acquisition progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
- Administer, analyze, and interpret district and state language proficiency assessments to evaluate student progress, adjust instruction, and ensure learners meet language acquisition targets
- Establish a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom culture rooted in restorative practices that encourages multilingual learners to fully participate in the school community
- Serve as an active, engaged member of the CSUFSD professional learning community, collaborating on school-wide initiatives, data analysis, and continuous improvement
