The Department of Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences at Loyola University Chicago seeks qualified candidates for an appointment as Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2026. The Department of Psychology currently has 36 faculty (24 tenured or tenure-track and 12 non-tenure track) and offers rigorous, empirically grounded training in psychology at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. At the undergraduate level, our department serves 1,200 undergraduate psychology majors plus more than 600 neuroscience majors. At the graduate level, we offer specialized training in applied social, clinical, and

We welcome candidates with strong research and teaching profiles whose scholarship advances an understanding of the psychological processes that create, connect to, and stem from systemic inequalities in society. Although we are open to all areas of expertise within social psychology, candidates whose research complements our existing faculty are especially encouraged to apply. We are interested in someone who uses social psychological principles and research to
understand and solve real-world social problems, focusing on creating interventions, developing programs, and informing policies. Welcome areas of application include health, discrimination, the environment, organizations, and education, including applied research on race/ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or immigration. Applicants with expertise in advanced statistical techniques are encouraged to apply.

Requirements
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the Applied Social Psychology PhD program, and to teach one or more undergraduate courses—
Understanding Prejudice, Understanding Bias and Inclusivity, Social Psychology, Research methods, Statistics—and one or more graduate courses in, for example, Prejudice and Intergroup Relations, Advanced Graduate Statistics, and other social seminars. The successful candidate will pursue a strong program of scholarship, have the potential to secure external grant funding to support that research, and engage in service at the department level or above.
The candidate will have a PhD in Social Psychology at the time of appointment. Candidates for the position must clearly demonstrate the potential for excellence in research and teaching and have a record of (or clear potential for) distinguished scholarship, grant-funded research, and student mentorship. The candidate must be willing to support the mission of Loyola University Chicago and the goals of a Jesuit Catholic Education.
